Treatment Options: Surgical
Surgical treatment often involves repair of the fracture or tendon injury using hardware (pins, wire, small screws, plates). The most common approach is to pin across the joint. (Figs. 2a ,2b.& 2c) In some cases however, the surgeon may have to re-tighten the stretched tendon with tendon grafts. Whatever the treatment, conservative or surgical, it is prudent to consult an orthopaedic hand specialist as soon as possible.
